Consider volunteering

By Eugene Leggett President, WVF&R

Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue recently mailed a brochure to the citizens of Washington and our neighbors in the surrounding area that illustrates the value of volunteers. I have received many favorable comments about the brochure. People have noted not only the quantity of information contained but also the "professional" look of the tri-fold pamphlet.

I want to emphasize the "Volunteer" aspect of WVF&R and make special note of some of the talent and effort that went into crafting such a high quality product. Ann Spieker and Charles Ray Crawford provided the photography. Various members wrote and edited the text. Finally, one of our newer members, Sylvie Rowand did the layout and graphics work. Sylvie also did the graphics for our CD case.

Volunteering your time and talents to the Fire and Rescue Department does not mean only fighting fires or answering rescue calls. Sylvie's superior computer skills have been put to use in more ways than one. You don't need to don a helmet and man a fire hose or ride an ambulance to be a valuable member of the team.

Please consider volunteering at your local Fire Station or Rescue Squad.
