Native of Rappahannock
Catherine Jenkins Atkins, 81, of Front Royal, died June 15 at Lynn Care Center.
Mrs. Atkins was born July 21, 1926 in Rappahannock County. She was the daughter of the late Silas Dolan and Jessie Jenkins.
She retired as an inspector for Aileen, Inc., which was located in the county. Mrs. Atkins was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church and Jolly 60s. She was married to the late Gilbert Edward Atkins, Sr.Surviving are three daughters, Polly A. Sloat- Barnes and Jane L. Kenney both of Front Royal, and Phillis M. Finn of Calabash, N.C.; one son, Gilbert E. Atkins, Jr., of Front Royal; a sister, Lois Dodson, of Front Royal; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jenkins.A funeral service was to be held on Thursday, June 19, at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Jerry Young. Burial was to be followed in Panorama Memorial Gardens in Waterlick.
Pallbearers are Eddie Atkins, David Strickler, Richard Campbell, Donald Sloat, Jr., and Jimmy Kenney, III.
