Maj. Gen. Hugo to speak at Reagan dinner

The Rappahannock County Republican Committee will be holding its 2010 Ronald Reagan Dinner on Saturday (April 24) at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington Volunteer Fire & Rescue fire hall.

The event is an annual tradition and guests from Rappahannock and elsewhere are invited. The dinner acknowledges President Reagan’s service to the nation and celebrates the lasting contributions he made to the world. There is no admission charge, but those attending are requested to bring a dish to share. Guests will enjoy an evening of hearty fare and political discussion while rekindling personal and business relationships.

This year’s featured speaker will be Maj. Gen. Victor Joseph Hugo, Jr., who has held a variety of command and staff positions, culminating with his assignment as commanding general of the 32nd Army Air Defense Command in Germany. Gen. Hugo has also served as assistant secretary of the Army General Staff, and deputy director of the Army Staff. Gen. Hugo was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other meritorious awards. He is married to the former Dam Thuy Nguyen, a former director of community services for the YMCA, and a Washingtonian of the Year in 1989.

Those interested in attending the event should make advance reservations by contacting Terry Dixon at 540-937-7940 or Space at the Washington Fire Hall is limited, so please respond soon.
