New firehouse plans

A meeting has been scheduled for 2 p.m. June 6 at the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department’s banquet hall to discuss plans and considerations for the proposed new firehouse to be constructed.

Department Vice President Mike Wolnevich will be on hand with different sets of plans as well as a large rendering of what an addition versus a whole new structure would look like. He has been the driving force behind the movement to seek funding necessary to start the process.

Mike has a lot of passion for the project which becomes readily evident when he’s asked about the pros and cons of each version. The public is not only invited but highly encouraged to attend and ask questions as this building will ultimately affect everyone in our community. The department will be serving pizza to those in attendance, and any donations will be accepted as well.

Also Secretary Stephanie Crawford will be there handing out applications to any who might be interested in joining the department. They are seeking not only active members to respond to emergency service calls but also administrative members to serve on committees and help with the setup, take down and running of fundraisers and other departmental events.

Everyone is not only welcome to submit an application but highly encouraged. It’s your department, folks; it’s a vital center and pillar of our community so please strongly consider giving your support and time to help it continue to grow and provide the vital services that it does to us all.

Prayers of support

Friends, if you don’t know already and I don’t see how since word spreads like wildfire in such a small community, our own Jimmy Wines is currently in the ICU at Winchester Hospital. Jimmy is fighting off another bout of illness and is urgently in need of your prayers, as is his family. So please take just a moment if you would and say a little prayer for Jimmy and for his wife Debbie and their family.
