Letter: ‘Happy to accept both invitations’

Thank you so much to both the Democratic and Republican Party Committees for inviting me to attend their next meeting. I have always prided myself on being an independent voter and thinker, but dialogue has always proven to be the best road to follow. Meeting both groups is simply a way to introduce myself as a candidate for the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The clerk’s position is a non-political one and I am not seeking the endorsement of any party. With this in mind, I am certainly happy to accept both invitations.

Since becoming part of the Rappahannock County Clerk’s Office in April of 1981, I have always tried to give our citizens the best service possible. My background in business and community organization, as well as my on-the-job experience in the clerk’s office, has been a great asset. Hopefully, my staff and I can continue to serve Rappahannock County.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have been supportive over the past 29 years — to name them all would be impossible. I would be remiss, however, if I didn’t thank my mentor and friend, Diane Bruce. Her service to the county has been unparalleled. Her guidance, to me, has been invaluable.

Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank the citizens of Rappahannock County for their support. Working for you has been my honor, and continuing to serve you would be my pleasure. I hope I can rely on your vote in November.

Margaret R. “Peggy” Ralph
Circuit Court Clerk,
Rappahannock County
