Schooling event Sept. 19

The Old Dominion Hounds Pony Club will host a dressage show and combined test Sept. 19 at Windsor Lodge in Flint Hill. Any dressage test can be ridden, and the combined test divisions range from first timers to training level. Information is at

Fall colors ride

The annual Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department benefit trail ride is slated Oct. 23 and 24 near Flint Hill. The extensive trail system, which covers a half-dozen private farms nestled against the Blue Ridge, is marked for self-guided riding. Breakfast and lunch are included. Hunt Fest planned

The Warrenton Hunt, Rappahannock Hunt and Old Dominion Hounds will combine to offer a special “Hunt Fest” in October, an expanded week of hunting and activities in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties’ legendary hunt country.

The Warrenton Hunt kicks off the event with a barn dance Saturday night, Oct. 23. Participants hunt with Rappahannock Sunday Oct. 24, Monday with Warrenton, Tuesday with Old Dominion Tuesday, back to Rappahannock Wednesday, and back at Old Dominion Thursday. Friday is a dark day, with the opening meet of the newly connected Old Dominion and Rappahannock Hunts on Saturday, Oct. 30 (scheduled at Foxhall Farm in Flint Hill.)

There is also the opportunity to cap with any of a dozen other area hunts at the beginning and end of the Hunt Fest, and on the “open” Friday.

Fall hunter pace series

Bull Run, Casanova, Farmington and Rappahannock hunts will join for a fall hunter pace series. The events are for teams of two to four over a course five to 10 miles with optional jumps.
