Condolences
Our community has been saddened by the passing of several close friends. Condolences go out to the family of Ray Cannon, retired postmaster and land owner. Services were held at Black Oak Regular Baptist Church for Bill Johnson of Stillhouse Road. Russell Burke, Jr., 58, passed away last week. He was the grandson of Brue and Bessie Burke, longtime residents on the Durant farm, and he was a brother of Donnie Johnston, a freelance writer for the Free-Lance Star of Fredericksburg.
Worth noting
It will be great news to many of our readers to hear that a former resident, Mrs. Minnie Lutt, reached the age of 100 on Aug. 26. She was born in Culpeper in 1910. She has been residing in Los Angeles with relatives for the past 60 years.
