Election Day is fast approaching. A key race in our local elections is the position of Circuit Court Clerk. As each of us enters the voting booth on Nov. 2, we should carefully consider the candidacy of Lavonne Adkins.
Ms. Adkins has lived in Rappahannock County all but two years of her life. She is a product of our county schools and a graduate of Shenandoah University. Many of us have come to know her through her work with the Rappahannock County Soccer Association. She has been a board member of RCSA, a referee and, most importantly, a soccer coach to many of the children of our county. Ms. Adkins has committed her time and efforts to the success of each season. Those of us involved in county sports know of her commitment to RCSA, to our county youth, and to Rappahannock in general.
Ms. Adkins is a write-in candidate. While she is a native of our county and she knows the county and we know her, she is an underdog in this election. Why? Because, as a write-in candidate, her name will not appear on the ballot.
As we enter the voting booth on Nov. 2, we must not forget to consider Lavonne Adkins as a candidate for the position of Circuit Court Clerk. And for those of us who wish to elect her, remember to write in “Adkins” for Circuit Court Clerk.
