Wakefield Country Day School sophomore Katie Brown, of Front Royal, starred in a recent production at the Wayside Theatre. The play, “Houdini,” ran in three performances on Oct. 1 and 2. Brown played Bess Houdini, the protagonist’s wife.
“I really enjoyed the play and being in it,” Brown said. “We did many of Houdini’s famous tricks in the performance; so it was a good learning experience both about him and his magic.”
This was an entirely student-done performance. The original play, which was about the life of Harry Houdini from the age of 10 until his death, was written by high school students over the summer as part of the Youth Performers Workshop. All the actors in this production were local high school students. The play was part of the theater’s Education in Action series.
