Free hams will be made available before Christmas at the Rappahannock Food Pantry for those families in need.
The hams are being donated by the Hampton Foundation, based in Washington. The foundation’s treasurer is Frances Foster and its president is James W. Fletcher III.
Fletcher said the donation came in response to the Rappahannock News’ Dec. 2 front-page story on the increasing strain on the county’s safety net for the needy.
The hams are scheduled to be available at the Food Pantry 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21 and Dec. 23.
