Police seek Rappahannock teens in Orange ABC robbery

Virginia State Police this week were seeking the public’s help in locating two Rappahannock County 19-year-olds charged in the armed robbery last month of a Virginia ABC Store in the town of Orange.

The armed robbery occurred Dec. 20 at the Virginia ABC Store on North Madison Street. A state police spokesperson said James Lynn Crooks, of Sperryville, and Jeremy Harold Carter, of Amissville, entered the store at approximately 6:15 p.m. and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

The state police Culpeper division’s criminal investigations bureau is heading the manhunt and investigation, with the assistance of the Virginia ABC’s law enforcement bureau and town of Orange police.

State police are also investigating the possibility that two other individuals assisting Crooks and Carter as a lookout and driver of a getaway vehicle.

No one inside the store was injured during the robbery.

Arrest warrants for armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection to the robbery have been obtained for both Crooks and Carter.

Crooks is described as a white male with hazel eyes and brown hair, six feet tall and 165 pounds, Carter as a white male with blue eyes and brown hair, 5 feet 10 and 175 pounds.
