Sperryville column for Dec. 29

Happy New Year

Be always at war with your vices,

at peace with your neighbors,

and let each New Year find you a better person.

– Benjamin Franklin

As we move into this new year, may we grow in kindness. We wish all of you a happy and healthy 2012.

Cafe Indigo rocked

Cafe Indigo hopes to have live music every Thursday night. Last week, in a tribute both to the popularity of Gold Top County Ramblers and to the power of social media, Cafe Indigo was literally mobbed with young people last week. The word had spread via Facebook that this group was playing and the result was a lively reunion of friends and family.

The Gold Top County Ramblers will be back at Cafe Indigo this Thursday (Dec. 29) from 7 to 10 p.m.

Gather and chat

As we move into the slower months of January, February and March, we might want to beat those post-holiday blues by making a special effort to get out and see each other. Our two breakfast venues in Sperryville give us the opportunity to do so informally and regularly. Both the Thornton River Grille and Cafe Indigo offer excellent breakfast menus and wireless Internet access for those who need it. Our grandchildren have gone home, the tree is coming down . . .see you at breakfast in the New Year!
