All Rappahannock County government offices will be closed Monday (Feb. 20), in observance of Presidents’ Day, as will the Union First Market Bank and BB&T. Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services transportation services will not operate on Presidents’ Day.
Rappahannock County Board of Zoning Appeals, (BZA) meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 22) at the county courthouse. Agenda includes Christie Tourist Home application.
February’s meeting of the Washington Architectural Review Board has been cancelled due to lack of a quorum. Applications that were to be discussed and voted on this month will have to wait until next month for review. Next month’s meeting will be on the regular scheduled date of March 8.
The Rappahannock Lions Club’s Bland Music Contest has been canceled for 2012. Interested student musicians can send their information and applications to the Culpeper Lions Club, which holds its local Bland competition at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at Culpeper Baptist Church. The United Daughters of the Confederacy Culpeper Chapter #73 invites the students of Rappahannock County to participate in its annual essay contest. Public, private and home-schooled students are encouraged to enter. Prizes, awarded in six grade categories spanning first through 12th grade, are $50 (first-place) $35 and $25.
