For Francie Schroeder, Tom Junk and the other members of the Rappahannock County Electoral Board: I want to publicly thank you all for correcting the files and restoring me to the list of legally registered voters.
I was led to believe by my communications with individuals in the State Board of Elections (SBE) office in Richmond that their hands were tied by the law and no corrections could be made without me actually reapplying for legal status; this despite the evidence and legal documents which I presented. I was never told by anyone that there was a local electoral board with the power to evaluate or mitigate the position taken by the SBE after I notified the local registrar that information provided to them by the Department of Motor Vehicles was erroneous. The SBE provided me with the empowering Code of Virginia, and nothing else.
Since all of this illuminates a situation for which public information and notification is inadequate, I strongly recommend that such information be made easily available to anyone who is confronted with an action by the SBE similar to mine. I am hopeful that someone will hear this and act positively on implementing this recommendation.
For the action that was taken by the Rappahannock electoral board, I am appreciative.
