Wreck leads to DUI arrest

A 34-year-old Amissville woman was charged with driving under the influence and refusal (to take blood- or breath-based alcohol tests) after her car wound up in a ditch near the Laurel Mills Store in Castleton at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 18.

Rappahannock County Sheriff Connie C. Smith said Nicole L. Griffith was charged after an investigation by Deputy Lee Settle, who had responded with Deputy Cody Dodson (and the sheriff herself) to the report of an accident in the wee hours along Laurel Mills Road near the store. Griffith spent the night at Rappahannock County Jail and was released on personal recognizance the following afternoon.

Both charges are second-time offenses; Griffith’s hearing in Rappahannock County District Court is Sept. 18.
