The Washington Town Council holds its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. Monday (Aug. 13) at Town Hall. Public hearing on a special use application by the owner of the property of 291 Main St., the Inn at the Ridge, LLC, to add an additional guest room (which changes the use from a bed and breakfast to a hotel) is followed by a continuation of the council’s July 16 joint meeting with the planning commission to review the draft comprehensive plan. Piedmont Softball Association now accepting registrations for all area girls interested in its fast-pitch fall programs. Girls born 1992 through 2006 are welcome, as well as any skill level from beginner through very experienced. Games are played at the home field on U.S. 211 in Amissville as well as in surrounding counties. Registration is $40 with a $5 discount for each additional player from the same household; no girl will be refused because of inability to pay.
