A Parkinson’s Support Group is starting up in the county that promises to be informative, informal and fun! The first meeting is 11 a.m. Monday (Aug. 27) at Dianne Fallon’s house at 206 Grandview Road. The group will meet every two weeks, the second and fourth Monday of each month. Diane Fallon is the organizer (540-987-9060) and Rob Sherwood is the co-organizer (540-987-8596). The emphasis is on creating a safe and supportive place for deep sharing and caring. Said the organizers: “This group is going to laugh and let go, smile and sing, dance and enjoy!”

Piedmont Softball Association now accepting registrations for all area girls interested in its fast-pitch fall programs. Girls born 1992 through 2006 are welcome, as well as any skill level from beginner through very experienced. Games are played at the home field on U.S. 211 in Amissville  as well as in surrounding counties. Blue Ridge Chorale, rehearsals for the winter concerts start Aug. 27 at Open Door Baptist Church, 754 Germanna Hwy., Culpeper. For children 7 and older, Youth Chorale under the direction of Catherine ter Weele meets at 5:45 p.m. Mondays starting Sept. 17. Little Fork Episcopal Church is seeking information about all souls interred in its burying ground at 16361 Oak Shade Road, Rixeyville, to invite family and friends of the the deceased to a Burying Ground Special Worship Service on Sept. 23.
