Again, this year, the Flint Hill fire department would like to express its heartfelt thanks to all those who worked on the fifth annual benefit trail ride. With the threat of Hurricane Sandy looming, we closed up a little earlier on Sunday than we normally would have, but, all in all, the weather held off and this trail ride was one of the biggest and best we have ever had.
Special thanks go to Deborah and Bob Miloslavich who were tireless in their efforts to make this event successful. Audra Dickey, Janet Borden and Fran Krebser also assisted, and a big shout out goes to Sgt Heinz and his faithful helpers who prepared and served a wonderful dinner Saturday night.
Thanks to Connie Huff-Harris who collected items for door prizes from the Inn at Little Washington, Rappahannock Cellars, The Country Cafe, Horse-n-Hound, Economy Pest Control, Southern States of Front Royal, CFC Farm & Home Center in Sperryville, Tula’s Off Main and Griffin Tavern.
We also had donations of equipment or products from Rick’s Welding, Costello Farm Services, Lee’s Orchards, Settle’s Grocery and Adams meats. And special thanks to community members like John and Dee Vest, John Alexander, Kathy Russo and all the wonderful people who baked cakes and cookies for dessert for the Saturday dinner. And, of course, the owners of the beautiful farms over which the 17 miles of trail ran: Hard Rock Farms, Red Fox Run, Patria, Wakefield Manor and Bolton Branch Farm.
And while we expect that our member volunteers in the department would be there, I have to say we had a wonderful turnout of our own people who put in a great effort. It was a pleasure to see it all come together. Thanks to everyone for an outstanding event. Our fire department and our community thank you, one and all.
