Students at Wakefield Country Day School won trophies in two Certamen competitions this fall. Certamen is a specialized branch of quiz bowl that focuses exclusively on questions related to Latin grammar, vocabulary, Roman history, culture and mythology. The Level I Team took first at the Classical Cottage Certamen, while the Level II team placed fourth at the Kickoff Certamen and third at the Classical Cottage Certamen. The Level I team: Bernie Cieplak, Tony Elar, Douglas Griffin, Harmony Lindstrom, Chris O’Heir, Zoe Porterfield, Jackson Romine, and Owen Youngquist; Level II team includes Brier Clough, Aaron Corbett, Carolina Leonard, Monica Marciano, Mollie Miller, and Julia Weir. Additionally, Madison Romine has helped with team coordination and oversight.
