Rappahannock County Sheriff Connie C. Smith and Lance Lyngar, a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), presented Peter Luke (left) with a “Law Enforcement Commendation Medal” at the Dec. 3 board of supervisors meeting. County Attorney Luke, who also served as the county’s commonwealth’s attorney for 28 years, was nominated for the award by Smith. The award is given by the SAR to those who have served with distinction in the areas of law enforcement and public safety. “Mr. Luke performed his job exceptionally well and had a great prosecution record,” said Smith.
