The Rappahannock News article headlined in last week’s edition provided plenty of details regarding next year’s proposed budget. Buried in those details is the fact that the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisor’s draft 2013-2014 budget, if adopted, will levy a whopping 10-percent tax increase on the back of every property owner in our county.
At a time when our sluggish economy leaves many of our county residents unemployed or underemployed, such a massive tax increase will be devastating – this proposed new tax burden is outrageous!
There is still time to stop this huge tax increase. Concerned citizens should reach out to our board of supervisors by contacting Roger A. Welch, chairman, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
