Shenandoah National Park’s new superintendent Jim Northup, speaking above, was among those on hand at The Farm at Sunnyside for a weekend reception and hike to announce a new public-private partnership to manage invasive species in the park. The family foundation of farm owner Nick Lapham (above, left) started off the effort with a $50,000, five-year grant, which The Nature Conservancy and the Shenandoah National Park Trust (SNPT) will match – estimates are the effort will eventually devote more than $700,000 to the effort. Also pictured above are Peter Rice, chairman of SNPT, and SNPT executive director Susan Sherman.
