Photos: It’s Pete Estes’ bridge now

Family, friends and Rappahannock County officials pose with the sign dedicating the new U.S. 522 bridge over the Thornton River in Sperryville to Charles K. “Pete” Estes, an active Rappahannocker who served as sheriff, Piedmont district supervisor and chairman of the Board of Supervisors. Estes, who passed away in 2006, worked tirelessly to get the 1929 bridge updated (it was finally replaced last fall). Pictured here are (from left) former supervisor and board chair Bob Anderson, Piedmont supervisor Mike Biniek, chairman and Wakefield supervisor Roger Welch, Christine Johnson, Michael Baader II, Walter Kilby, Ben Estes, Katherine Estes Baader, Kelly Brown Estes, delegate Mike Webert (R-18th), Susan Estes Ryan, County Administrator John McCarthy, Julia Estes and Ken Estes.

Meanwhile, Estes family members (from left) Julia Estes, Katherine Estes Bader, Susan Estes Ryan, Kate Ryan, Mike Ryan, Ben and Ken Estes views the newly unveiled sign officially dedicating the bridge.
