The Washington Architectural Review Board (ARB) meets at 7:30 p.m. today (Thursday, July 11) at town hall. Agenda includes: County of Rappahannock, new porch roof at back door of 239 Gay Street; Kramer Building, LLC, replace wooden loading dock at 311 Gay Street; Christopher Parrish, replace wooden roof shingles with asphalt shingles at 249 Main St.; The Inn at the Ridge, LLC, modifications to previously approved applications, removal of second floor window, removal of chimney and more.

The Washington Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday (July 15) at the town hall. The agenda includes: a public hearing on the consideration and adoption of ordinances and resolutions to vacate and/or convey the portion of Middle Street west of Main Street. The council will also hold a joint meeting with the Planning Commission to consider the issues regarding allowing B&Bs to serve meals to non-guests.

The Rappahannock County Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the county courthouse on Gay Street. The agenda includes: Fitzgerald efficiency apartment; Sher efficiency apartment; Wall bed and breakfast; Devore cottage industry; Hall tourist home; notice of variance request.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Medical Reserve Corps holds orientation sessions from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Fauquier Health Department (330 Hospital Drive, Warrenton) and July 23 at the Culpeper Health Department (640 Laurel Lane, Culpeper). The sessions are to provide free training in emergency response and other specialized topics, as well as exercises to ensure that volunteers are prepared to respond in a safe manner. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Culpeper Branch meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Galbreath-Marshall Building (1401 Old Fredericksburg, Rd. Culpeper).

Rappahannock County School Sports Association hosts the first annual Challenger Sports Soccer Camp July 15-19 (ages 3-5, 9 a.m. to 10:30; ages 6-17, 9 a.m. to noon). Challenger Sports’ curriculum has been created to address the key areas of technical development that have the biggest impact on performance in the game.
