Meetings and Notices for Sept. 5

The Rappahannock County School Board holds its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 10) in the high school band room.

The Washington Town Council’s regular September meeting has been moved to Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. in the town hall.

The Architectural Review Board (ARB) meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the town hall. The agenda includes Jerry and Cindy Hodges; new house construction on property at the east end of Main Street.

The Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services board holds its regular meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. Contact Kimberley Martin at 540-825-3100, ext. 3146.

The Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority holds its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 (instead of Sept. 5, due to a conflict with the circuit court) at the courthouse. On the agenda: a resolution which will set its future regular monthly meeting dates, as well as an alternate date, or dates.

There being no business to come before the boards, the September meetings of the Rappahannock County Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals are hereby cancelled.

The Christmas in Washington Artisan Fair has openings available. The parade and fair are 10 to 4 p.m. Dec. 8. This is a juried fair and the fee is $50 for six feet of table space. For more information, contact Berni Olson at 540-987-8440 or

Windmore Foundation for the Arts’ Crossroads Youth Orchestra is holding auditions at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 6) and 2 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 8) for musicians in grades six through 12 with at least two years of experience. Youth Chorale of the Blue Ridge Chorale, under the direction of music teacher Cathy ter Weele, is looking for singers age 7 and older. Youth rehearsals begin at 5:45 p.m. Monday (Sept. 9) at Open Door Baptist Church (754 Germanna Hwy., Culpeper). Piedmont Softball Association is accepting registrations for girls interested in its fast-pitch programs this fall. All girls born between 1994 and 2007 are welcome, as well as any skill level from beginner through very experienced. Registration fee for players who didn’t play this past spring is $40 for 12 and younger and $45 for ages 13-18 ($5 discount for each additional player from the same household).
