SCBI autumn festival cancelled

Due to the federal government shutdown, the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s annual autumn conservation festival scheduled for this weekend (Oct. 5-6) has been cancelled, according to SCBI spokesperson Laura Linn Wednesday morning. A news release from SCBI confirmed later that the festival will not be rescheduled. For further updates and information, please check the Zoo’s Facebook, Twitter or the National Zoo’s website. The announcement said that guests who purchased car passes for ACF will receive an email from Friends of the National Zoo with more information.

“All of the animals at SCBI will continue to be fed and cared for during the federal government shutdown,” said the statement. “A shutdown does not affect SCBI’s commitment to the safety of its staff or its standard of excellence in animal care.”
