Photos: It’s officially summer in Amissville

Amissville Volunteer Fire & Rescue’s annual summer carnival took off last week, with (top left) a tailgate’s worth of young members of the Settle family of Amissville getting the best seats for Thursday afternoon’s parade along U.S. 211; (second row, far left) AVF&R chief J.B. Carter Jr. applying wrist bands for rides for 4-year-old Tori Shepard of Culpeper; and Haley Streightiff (second row, middle) of Amissville and Madison Wells of Sperryville taking a spin around the grounds on “The Paratrooper.”

Meanwhile, Amissville residents Hannah, 4 (second row, right) and 5-year-old Lacy look as if they’d be happy to ride their merry-go-round mounts into the sunset.
