On behalf of the Headwaters Foundation and all the Rappahannock County Public Schools staff, we thank our local restaurants for providing a fabulous meal for the teachers, administrators and support staff of our public schools, and we thank Union First Market Bank for underwriting the luncheon.
On Aug. 6, after a morning of speakers and in-service, the elementary and high school staffs assembled in the high school commons area. They enjoyed lasagna and Italian bread from Griffin Tavern, tossed salad from Thornton River Grill, fruit salad from Headwaters, cookies from the Flint Hill Public House and cake from the Country Café, all spread out on tables beautifully decorated by Susan McCarthy and Kay Miller.
Headwaters board members Jennifer Aldrich, Ralph Bates, Ashleigh Cannon Sharp, Kathy Grove and executive director Jane Bowling-Wilson set up, served and cleaned up, while the school staffs relaxed and socialized. “In my 13 years, this is the best luncheon we’ve ever had!” remarked one teacher.
The day before, Headwaters hosted a luncheon at Thornton River Grill for four teachers new to our county, along with their principals, assistant principals, mentors, superintendent and central office support staff.
We appreciate the generosity of Union First Market Bank and our restaurateurs in welcoming our teachers back to school! And we remind everyone that you too can “taste” our local restaurant fare at the annual Taste of Rappahannock on Sept. 13.
