Photos: Pickups collide

Virginia State Police are still investigating the 8:20 p.m. crash on U.S. 522 near Scrabble Sunday in which two pickup trucks collided head-on. Police said the driver of a white 2011 Chevy pickup, identified as Kenneth Lee Bruske, 29, of Boston, Va., fled the scene and was located later at an unidentified residence. Police said Bruske’s northbound vehicle crossed the center line on the two-lane highway and struck a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup (right) being driven south by Glenn Richardson, 54, of Woodstock. Richardson was transported to Culpeper Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, although rescuers (units from Sperryville and Castleton responded to the accident) reported that Richardson’s dog did not survive the crash.

Update: Earlier this week (Aug. 19), police charged Bruske with failure to maintain proper control and driving without a license. Police said Bruske fled the scene and was found at his residence the next morning. His arraignment is Sept. 9.
