A $12,000 grant from the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation and the Richard Lykes Fund three months ago enabled the Rappahannock Food Pantry to purchase this refrigerated van, which Pantry director Mimi Forbes says will be used for pick-ups from Food Lion, Wegman’s and Trader Joe’s. Posing with the newly embroidered van are volunteers (from left) Georgia Gilpin, Beth Hall, Midge Finnerty, Andy Platt, Leonard Young and Forbes. “The thing with the Lykes fund is that they don’t just want to give you money, they want you to need something,” said Forbes. “And we needed this.”

  1. Rapp County so fortunate to have such an awesome food pantry for those that often go to bed and start the DAY hungry. This heart-breaking scenario involves children within Rapp. GOOD JOB RAPP FOOD PANTRY TEAM!!!
