Trimmed branches are temporarily piled higher than the fences along the sidewalk (and sometimes even in Gay Street itself) at the Rappahannock County courthouse Monday morning (Aug. 25) while workers from Flint Hill-based Quality Tree Service do some preventative maintenance. County Administrator John McCarthy said the main goal was to take some of the “sail problem” out of the large sycamore, as he was concerned it might fall during a severe storm — and right onto his office. Some branches that had been growing into the power lines near the county clerk’s office were also trimmed, McCarthy said.
