The Rappahannock County Water and Sewer Authority meets at 5:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Sept. 11) at the courthouse. At its Aug. 14 meeting, the board elected officers for the 2014-2015 fiscal year, choosing Alex Sharp as chairman, Keir Whitson as vice-chairman, David Aldrich as treasurer and Andrew Haley as secretary. Rick Lessard, who served as chairman for the 2013-2014 fiscal year, will continue as the board’s fifth member.

The Washington Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday (Sept. 15, rescheduled from Sept. 8) at town hall. Agenda includes public hearings on a special-use permit by James Abdo to operate the home at 199 Main St. as a tourist home managed by White Moose Inn; by John and Diane MacPherson continuing to serve meals to non-guests; for continued operation of the county’s emergency radio tower; and more.

The Rappahannock County Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 17) at the county courthouse on Gay Street. The agenda includes the Luthi family apartment.

The Architectural Review Board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 18) at the town hall on Gay Street. The agenda includes modifications to front of 211 Main St.; attorney Michael Brown changing existing sign at 211 Main St.; and modifications to 132 Gay St.

The NAACP Culpeper Branch meets at 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 18) at 7 p.m. at the Culpeper Town Library (271 Southgate Shopping Center, Culpeper).

The Blue Ridge Singers, Front Royal’s newest chamber choir, begin rehearsals this month (7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Front Royal Presbyterian Church) for a December performance. Piedmont Softball Association is now accepting registrations for all area girls (born 1995-2008) and skill levels interested in its fastpitch programs this fall. Registration is $40 for those who did not play with PSA this past spring (ages 12 and younger) and $45 for ages 13-18 ($5 discount for each additional player from the same household).
