Letter: Sponsors, thanks; see you all on court Friday

The Rappahannock County Public Schools Parent Teacher Organization (RCPS PTO) would like to sincerely thank the following local team sponsors for their generous support of our upcoming Alumni Basketball Tournament: A&E Excavating, Andy Berry, B&B Signal, Griffin Tavern, Miller & Smith Home Builders, TC Robey Construction, Union First Market Bank and Williams Tree Service & Landscaping.

In addition to team sponsorship, Union Bank is also our referee sponsor this year, making it possible to have professional referees from the VHSL’s Bull Run District. The generous donations of these sponsors is vital to the success of our annual tournament, which is a major fundraiser for our organization. The money we raise allows us to enrich the education of Rappahannock students in countless ways throughout the school year.

This year our third annual tournament — 6 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28-29 — promises to be the best yet, with a few exciting changes. Both nights will feature two men’s basketball games and one women’s game. This year the women have chosen to play basketball on Friday night and volleyball on Saturday night. This change greatly increased our female participation, and they are very eager to battle over the net! In addition to offering full concessions and T-shirts for sale, this year we are raffling an awesome set of custom blue-and-gold cornhole boards featuring the Panther logo. For more information, email pto@rappahannockschools.us.

Once again, a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors for their invaluable support. We hope that Rapp citizens will support these local businesses as faithfully as they have supported us each year. Also, a big thank you to our nearly 50 players who are playing this weekend. Please come out. You will enjoy seeing alumni from several decades while supporting a great cause!
