I really enjoyed last week’s editorial about love. Indeed, love of the land is what does unite us all out here, and is the reason those of us who have been around for a while have stayed and those who are the “newbies” have come.
Sometimes there are those who want to profit from this love of the land by inappropriate development, potentially destroying that which has drawn us in the first place; that is why those who see its true value work so hard to protect it from such shortsightedness. The metaphor of the lover’s quarrel is appropriate — hopefully one that is reconciled and forgotten, as the editorial says.
As the old saying goes, under all is the land. We need reminders such as your editorial to remember we are part of nature and its beauty; it is not something that is apart from our existence.
