Rappahannock County Water and Sewer Authority board meets at 5:30 p.m. today (Thursday, May 14) at the Rappahannock County courthouse.

Washington Architectural Review Board meets at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, May 14) at town hall. Agenda includes: Sam Snead for Washington Baptist Church, new breezeway at 180 Gay St.; County of Rappahannock, install new awning above side door of courthouse at 250 Gay St.

The Washington Town Council holds joint work sessions with the town planning commission in conjunction with the CPEAV Planning Course at 6:30 p.m. on May 19 and May 28 at town hall to discuss the town’s comprehensive plan.

Rappahannock County Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. May 20 at the courthouse. Agenda includes Lessard efficiency apartment.

Virginia Cooperative Extension offers a Food Safety Training ServSafe Manager Certification Course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17 at the Rappahannock Extension Office (311-J Gay St., Washington). Participants will complete the requirements for a Food Protection Manager Certification of the National Restaurant Association. Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company seeks contestants for Queen (ages 14-20) , Junior Miss (ages 8-13) and Little Miss (ages 3-7) for the company’s June 24-27 carnival. The Blue Ridge Singers seek vocalists interested in performing fun and challenging  repertoire. Based in Front Royal, the BRS rehearses Tuesday evenings and presents in three counties. The 4-H Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock Overnight Camp is July 26-30 at the 4-H Ed Center for 9- to 13-year-olds who’ll spend five days and four nights swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, dancing and performing in the talent show and ending each day at the campfire circle.
