Some of the two dozen campers at the annual Rappahannock Nature Camp this week search for butterflies over a stand of Joe Pye weed. Now sponsored by the Headwaters Foundation, the annual camp run by Lyt Wood is in its 30th year; the program is meant to awaken an interest in our diverse natural surroundings and to allow young participants to observe living plants and animal, understand the role of human beings in this shared environment — and to have fun and make new discoveries every day. “Flying Things” is the theme for this year’s camp.
