Letter: 4-H volunteers appreciated

A great time was had by all who attended the first annual 4-H Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. Kids enjoyed the moon bounce (Renae, Space Walk), face painting (Charlotte Turnmeyer), and making giant bubbles (Fairy God Mother). Adults enjoyed winning gifts from local businesses, and everyone enjoyed the food: burgers from Adams & Sons Inc.; corn, watermelon, tomatoes and onions from Muskrat Haven Farm; macaroni salad and baked beans from Beverly Atkins; and desserts from everyone who attended the picnic.

Many thanks to those in the Rappahannock County community who volunteer their time to 4-H. Without your support, the numerous clubs, workshops, school enrichment programs and camps that 4-H offers would not exist.

Thanks also goes to those who made donations to support our picnic: Kim Nelson, Hair Gallery; David Huff, the Country Café; Hackley’s; R.H. Ballard; and Stefanie Shaw, Burgers N Things.

If you are interested in giving your time to 4-H, or would like more information about becoming a volunteer, please call the Rappahannock County Extension office at 540-675-3619.
