The candidates forum held at the Amissville fire hall last Thursday (Sept. 3) was an informative and interesting event. Jim Gannon, who previously served as a panelist for the Ford-Carter presidential debate, did a superb job as moderator. Mike Cioffi is to be commended for organizing this event and another scheduled for Sept. 9 at the Washington Town Hall, both on behalf of the Friends of Liberty.
It was a pleasure to “meet” the candidates for the offices of sheriff, board of supervisors (Amissville) and school board (Amissville) and be apprised of their ideas on addressing the needs of Rappahannock County, as pertain to their particular areas.
Ron Frazier, in particular, was impressive in his approach to reconciling increased spending needs for the county without raising taxes. Mr. Frazier is adamant about not wasting taxpayer money, and he avers that wasteful or unnecessary spending should be ferreted out in the current budget to support any new spending initiatives. Rappahannock County would be blessed to have Ron Frazier elected to represent Amissville for another term on the board of supervisors. He is an honest, straightforward man who espouses common-sense solutions as his approach to both serving and protecting the taxpayers of Rappahannock County.
