Letter: ‘I have decided to declare my write-in candidacy’

After encouragement from former students and their parents, past and present educators and friends, I have decided to declare my write-in candidacy and willingness to serve as Hampton district representative to the Rappahannock County School Board. With 16-plus years teaching in the Rappahannock County Public Schools during a 20-plus year teaching career, and having served as a Scout leader, coach and community volunteer, I have developed an appreciation for what is required to provide an education for this community’s children. I firmly believe that preparing our students to succeed in life, as well as becoming contributing citizens, should be our highest priority.

Due to a previously planned family trip, I will be unable to attend the first public forum. However, I look forward to working with you in the future and hearing your ideas on how to further develop our student’s education.
