The pictures in this week’s paper say it all: Rappahannock County kicked off the holiday season in grand style, outdoing even last year’s spectacular parade. So many thank-yous to those who did the hard work, beginning with Thom Pellikaan, parade master — who produced the eclectic and totally fantastic lineup (and brought us the gorgeous Miss Virginia USA); Keir Whitson, for the food and drink vendors; Kim Nelson, for the Artisan Markets; Foster Harris House, for graphic design and much more; the Rappahannock Lions Club for parking; Gary and Wendy Aichele for the Christmas caroling; Dennis Brack and the Rappahannock News for publicity; Dot and Rick Lessard and Alice Anderson, who did a bit of everything, but most importantly were the on-hand troubleshooters; and our parade judges, Peter Luke, Cheri Woodard and Dot Lessard.
A special thanks to Keith Ward and Mary Bailey for bringing much joy to small children. Of course, it would have been impossible to produce the day without the generous support of the sponsors who are named later in the paper. It was also lovely that those early prayers and hopes for good weather, really paid off. It was a beautiful day and Rappahannock County outdid itself.
