‘Amazed at the outpouring of support’

As we prepare for the Mini-Golf Fun-raiser for the Rappahannock County High School Band on Feb. 20, we are amazed at the outpouring of support from the individuals and businesses on this new venture to bring the community a fun indoor event for all ages and raise some funds for the band program.

In honor of our non-profit local heroes, the band dedicated golf holes to the Fire and Rescue and Police agencies and the Rappahannock County Food Pantry.

Special thanks go to Vaughn Barkdoll, one of our band grandfathers, whose experience with events like this and a real devotion of time and guidance were instrumental in leading RCHS teachers Mr. Guira and Mr. Sheffield in the preparations.

Finally, we hope you will join us in thanking these businesses who have sponsored a hole or provided other seed money and resources to build the event: BFF (Band Friends & Family), B&B Service Center, Clevengers Corner Veterinary Care, Green Mountain Horticulture, Griffin Tavern, The Hair Gallery, Kerley Signs, Inc., Leading Edge Screen Printing, Jan Makela of Better Homes and Gardens Realtors, The Sperryville Corner Store, Waterpenny Farm, and thanks to this newspaper for showcasing events like this on the community calendar.
