Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors meets in special session 9:30 a.m. Monday (June 27) at the courthouse for its end-of-year accounts payables.

The Washington Town Council continues its June 13 meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, July 5 at town hall for a public hearing on its intention to adopt ordinances and/or resolutions for the sale of a portion of the Avon Hall property for a total purchase price of $750,000 cash on certain terms and conditions; and to also consider a release proposed by David Konick to the town discharging the parties from liability to each other and ending all matters associated with the court action known as Konick v. Town of Washington, et als. The contract for the above sale and survey, and other documents are available for inspection at town hall during normal business hours.

Hearthstone School’s Summer Camp (for ages 3-12) is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 25-29 and Aug. 1-5 at the school. This camp includes storytelling, watercolor painting, beeswax sculpture, candlemaking, rhythmic movement and dance, water play, cooperative games, felting, basketry, beadwork, paper making, drumming, baking, art from nature and nature walks. Culpeper’s State Theatre and Culpeper County Parks and Recreation have partnered to provide theater and visual arts summer camps for rising second- through ninth-graders throughout the Piedmont. Rappahannock County School Sports Association (RCSSA) TetraBrazil Soccer Academy Camp is July 18-22, with a Half Day Camp for ages 6-17 from 9 to noon. Mountain Adventures camp (swimming, rock climbing, hiking, nature studies, games, crafts and outdoor activities) offers three spots: The Day Camp for ages 5-9 is 9 to 3 June 27-July 1; and the Day Camp/Beginner Backpacking Camp (ages 10-13) is July 25-29. 4-H is offering daylong summer trips from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for 6- to 13-year-olds at the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock (CMR) Farm Show and the Castleton Festival Theatre House, Williams’ Orchard and NOVA 4-H Poo (July 12); Splashdown Water Park (July 19) and Graves Mountain Lodge (July 26). Busing will be provided at locations throughout the county each morning. Participants will need to be picked up at the RCES auxiliary gym each afternoon at 4 p.m. Space is limited. Thanks to the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation; for only $25, participants will receive busing to each field trip, entry fees, daily supervision and snacks.

The 4-H Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock Overnight Camp is July 31 through Aug. 4 at the 4-H Center in Front Royal for 9- to 13-year-olds. Campers arrive Sunday evening and spend the next four days swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, and performing in the talent show and ending each day at the campfire circle. Cost is $265.
