Thanks for ‘packing the bus’ — twice

On behalf of the Rappahannock County Public Schools, I would like to express my most sincere appreciation to the community for their response to the “Pack the Bus” donation drive for victims of the recent West Virginia flooding. With short notice and limited opportunity to spread the word, our community responded in outstanding fashion, filling our school bus with much-needed supplies that were then transported to those in need last weekend.

The outpouring of love was astounding. We filled the bus twice with items most needed for the many victims of the devastating flood. Our community demonstrated the very essence and spirit of going above and beyond all reasonable expectations to help out our neighbors who are in crisis.

A very special thank you to all who contributed to this effort, those representing both our schools and community organizations, as well as those of you who offered individual support. Your actions were an inspiration to all of us and, most importantly, set an example of good citizenship, caring and compassion, for our students to emulate.

With sincere appreciation,

Dr. Donna Matthews
Superintendent, RCPS
