Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 8

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day (next Tuesday, Nov. 8) at six locations in Rappahannock County’s five electoral districts: For Hampton district voters, it’s the Washington fire hall; Jackson district, Amissville fire hall; Piedmont district, Sperryville fire hall; Stonewall-Hawthorne district, Castleton fire hall; Wakefield/Chester Gap district, Chester Gap fire hall; Wakefield/Flint Hill, Flint Hill fire hall.

A reminder that since July 1, 2014, Virginians need bring a photo ID to the polling place, and that election results — available on the state department of elections site, not to mention next Thursday’s Rappahannock News — are unofficial, sometimes for as long as a week, while canvassing is completed and provisional ballots are verified.

If you have election- or voting-related questions, contact Rappahannock County’s director of elections, Kimberly McKiernan, at vote@rappahannockcountyva.gov or 540-675-5380.
