‘An Old Fashioned Christmas’ in store for Rappahannock County

Yes, Virginia, it is time to think about Christmas in Rappahannock County, aka Christmas in Little Washington.

This year we are returning to the first Sunday in the month: December 2nd and the theme will be “An Old Fashioned Christmas.”

Now’s the time to round up your posse for the parade, go into high gear on the wonderful items offered in the Artisan’s Market and work on rounding up good weather.

As in years past, Thom Pellikaan heads up the Parade. There is room for about 45 entries (size matters) — and while old favorites will be featured every year (think Santa, and, of course, elected officials) we always hope for some new surprising entries. Animals and musical features and clever floats celebrating the holidays are always a hit — but perhaps not the Grinch. Thom can be reached at BrookhillThom@gmail.com or 540-987-8447 for an application.

Kim Nelson is busy putting together the Artisan Market. We are striving for/hoping for warmer or more convenient venues — but contact her ASAP at 540-675-3076 or luqq@aol.com for an application.

The wonderful Alice Anderson may be calling you to volunteer for myriad tasks that make the event a success. If you’d like to volunteer call Alice at 540-675-1758 or e-mail Judy DeSarno at judydesarno@gamil.com.

Rappahannock County is in full “high season” swing: The Farm Tour followed by the Art tour followed by Christmas in Little Washington. Put them all on your calendar now and make those calls.
