Verdun challenges RCHS 8th graders

Ropes and harnesses are the education tools for one day at least for these Rappahannock County 8th graders who spent a physically active day recently at Verdun Adventure Bound. By Dani Pond

The Rappahannock County High School 8th grade class recently enjoyed a trip to Verdun Adventure Bound to experience a variety of team challenges.

This trip is an annual part of the 8th Grade Academy Transition Program.

According to RCHS School Counselor Dani Pond, “the Verdun experience provides team building exercises for the students which supports and promotes personal growth through experiential learning.”

Students, including those seen here, overcome a variety of physical challenges and then apply their experience to real-life situations such as school.

Topics addressed include collaboration, communication, problem solving, flexible thinking, trust, and conflict resolution. The students participated in a variety of activities such as a high ropes course, a rock climbing wall, and several team challenges.
