July Fourth closings: All Rappahannock County government offices and the Rappahannock News will be closed Thursday and Friday, July 4, and 5, reopening Monday, July 8. Next week’s newspaper will be on newsstands and delivered to many in-county subscribers on July 3. Also closed Thursday, July 4, but reopening on Friday, July 5, is Atlantic Union Bank, BB&T, and Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services transportation.
Coffee with the Mayor has been cancelled for Saturday, July 6, at Town Hall at 9 p.m. Mayor Catlin will resume Coffee with the Mayor on Saturday, Aug. 3.
The Hearthstone School’s Waldorf-inspired Camp has scheduled July 22 to July 26 for session 1; July 29 to Aug. 2 for session 2. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 11576 Lee Hwy. Sperryville. The camp is for ages 6 to 12. Cost $225 per camp week. The Town of Washington has a vacancy on both the ARB and the Planning Commission. The Town is looking for letters of interest to be received by Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, from Town residents who wish to be appointed. Appointments will be considered at the Aug. 12, 2019, Town Council meeting.

The Caregivers Support Group meets from 10 a.m. to noon at a new location (the Rappahannock Public Library) and on a different day (the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month). This group, started over 6 years ago, is free and open to all caregivers, whether they provide direct or long-distance care, and regardless of the reason that care is needed (e.g., dementia, long-term illness or disability, etc). Because we promise to guard each other’s confidences, group participants find a place to share and to support each other’s sorrows and joys. Fauquier Hospital will host a support group called Helping Hands at 3:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. All sessions will be held in the hospital’s Chestnut Room. The group is for those 18 and older who suffer from a life-limiting illness or chronic pain. The intent is for the group to be educational, but also offer an opportunity for participants to talk about feelings and issues.
